December 2025 Roundup
Luigi The Yule Goat
This is a new format, and I’m writing this December roundup in February. I plan on creating short blogs that narrate the month that will be companions to the refreshed format on The Liminal Farmstead Gallery page.
December in western Wisconsin should often have an accumulation of snow by now. But the seasons and weather have been a lottery, and December started off dry with snow finally falling and accumulating mid-month. And after that, temperatures dropped to single digits.
The highlight of the month was taking Luigi with me to the Winterlude winter market at Brewery Nonic in Menomonie, WI. This is, I think his 3rd or 4th year attending and bringing delight to everyone. Offering winter Yule Goat photos for friends and family. Having a real goat at an event creates a path for conversation, namely revolving around endangered livestock breeds.
Unfortunately, with the temperature drop, I had to cancel a second event that was scheduled. Staying outside with a goat in -1 degree weather isn’t just uncomfortable, it is unsafe. If only goats were easier to litter train, I could bring them in buildings with me more easily.
Bob and I celebrated the winter holidays with friends, ate great food, and shared fun stories. I even started listening to traditional Christmas ghost stories and had the Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special on repeat. It was a festive way to wrap up the year.
