January 2026 Roundup

A portable altar and tarot draw.

There is always change, and a big farmstead change was its name. From EB Ranch to The Liminal Farmstead. I still have a blog in the works expressing this change. But January also ushered in some new personal rituals, including regular tarot and taking steps back into the occult. I learned and was involved in a local Wicca group years ago, which was lovely. But it wasn’t my jam. Personal practice, and practice that is self-created, seems to feel good right now. I’m still very much a grounded person; I’m not going on some yoga-bro adventure or a harmful conspiracy-theory black hole. I am very aware that there is just “stuff” out there, coincidences, and intentions that lead to more adventures.

All of this ties in nicely with the farm. What is farming but an art of observing life and death up close and personal? With semi-predictable season change or utter chaos.

January also boasted a horrendous cold spell, a stint of -30-degree temps. Prepping and living through this weather takes extra time and care to make sure the animals are as comfortable as they can be. And that we humans stay safe and warm as well.

Two ritual practices now are journaling on a regular-ish basis and either quick or elaborate tarot readings for myself. The journaling also involves recording dreams if I remember. I believe this helps me keep a meter on my mental and physical health. Because holy smokes do we need to keep a check on our mental wellbeing right now!

In a nutshell, January was a good time to be lazy and set some small goals and routines.
