February 2026 Roundup
February had some wild temperature shifts toward the end of the month. With highs in the 50’s that dropped to the low teens. While many people might be on the edge of getting a bit winter stir-crazy, I still embrace and appreciate the winter that is clinging.
I turned 45 about a month ago, and the past 15 years, I have felt what seems like time moving more quickly. This helps me appreciate changes, challenges, and even discomfort. Every moment is a stack or layer I carry with me until I no longer exist. Granted, this comes from a place of certain privilege. I, of course, face hardships and other insecurities, but not to any astounding detriment.
Eartha is a Tepper Line San Clemente Island goat doe. And her pregnancy belly is getting very low to the ground. She has been a great goat mom in the past with no birthing complications.
The San Clemente Island goats are due to start kidding mid-March. The medicine shelf is prepped, and security cameras are installed to keep an eye on any early labor signs. While I did plan for kidding to start at this time, the timing is a tight fit between one of the jobs I work. I stay overnight at a farm school not far from here, so planning for kidding between these stays was important. Fingers crossed everything aligns so I can be home as much as possible when the kids start being born.
The does are showing their pregnancy, not only in how wide or low their bellies are. But they often display a more protruded vulva and might display individualistic behaviors. Such as becoming more vocal, which seems to be directed toward the kids yet to be born. More side nuzzling, big stretches, and even more friendly behavior toward me.
For tarot sessions, a lot of my intentions have been toward how to best navigate potential situations. Like how to best provide guidance or leadership through challenging scenarios. Or how to best set myself up for success in different settings. I use tarot to help me create space to think about these things. And pulling a card can help bring some much-needed guidance in a vague way. There have been a lot of tarot card pulls that direct me toward creative community planning and moving through challenges with an open heart and a sense of wonder. I appreciate the simple but powerful reminders.
When I was a child, I had a waking dream that there was a lobster guarding the bottom of the stairs. Preventing me from using the bathroom. I pulled this card to help guide me to prepare myself for the ongoing turbulent changes happening in an aspect of my life. (Changes beyond anyone’s control FYI.) The moon card reminded me that not knowing is terrifying, but incredible ideas and insight can come out of this chaotic space. And importantly, that the lobster is the nameless, hideous tendency of our worst impulses or debilitating fears from our unconscious. This is all very helpful, but it also made me remember and reflect on this recurring dream I had a few times when I was 6 or 7 years old. I had no real context for lobsters, except probably through the TV. I still have never eaten lobster at 45 years old. But as I mentioned, these cards can help me think and process.
